The arrival of spring in Lithuania is marked by three major festivities: Shrovetide, St. Casimir, and Easter. These celebrations are filled with joy, costumes, music, and traditional rituals. The designers at STUDIO LIBRE drew inspiration from these cultural events to create a unique and captivating packaging for "LITHUANIAN VODKA" Original.
The design features a vibrant and fresh color palette that represents the spirit of these special occasions. The bold illustration style, inspired by traditional Lithuanian engraving techniques, invites the viewer to explore the story behind the design. It is a fusion of different characters and symbols from the three main spring festivities, creating a visual narrative that celebrates Lithuanian culture.
The limited edition packaging is made of a glass bottle wrapped in plastic shrink wrap. The bottle has a capacity of 500 ml, and the label measures W 214 mm and H 225 mm. The design is not only visually striking but also maximizes shelf impact, making it a standout addition to any festive table or liquor shelf.
The project, which began in September 2014 in Vilnius, was completed in January 2015. It was launched during the Lithuanian Uzgavenes (Shrovetide) festival in February 2015 and is expected to be available in stores until the end of spring. The design team, led by Head of Creative Darius Kisielius, included designers Aliona Bobin and Irmantas Savulionis, as well as illustrators Aliona Bobin and Jekaterina Budryte.
The biggest challenge faced by the designers was merging traditional Lithuanian characters, symbols, and engraving techniques into a contemporary packaging design and illustration. However, their extensive research and creative approach resulted in a design that successfully captures the essence of Lithuanian spring festivities.
The "LITHUANIAN VODKA" Original limited edition packaging has received recognition for its outstanding design. It was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in 2015, which celebrates top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs. This award recognizes the design's strong technical characteristics, splendid artistic skill, and its ability to evoke positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.
With its vibrant colors, bold illustrations, and cultural significance, the "LITHUANIAN VODKA" Original limited edition packaging is a true celebration of Lithuanian spring traditions.
